OKPANACHI AS AN UNFORGETTABLE HERO OF GENEROSITY

OKPANACHI AS AN UNFORGETTABLE HERO OF GENEROSITY

The CEO of the Ototonobi News Planets, Odaudu  Wada Isah unravels the palpable feats of the acts of generosity founded in the life of Chief Jacob Okpanachi who retired from the Ahmodu Bello University Zaria's Teaching Hospital in 2004 as the Chief Medical Laboratory Technician. He equally served as the Chairman of the Non Academic Staff Union of the University. He was also an influential and notable figure in the Textiles industry in Kakuri, Kaduna state .

Being generous also makes us feel better about ourselves.

The attributes of generosity identified in the life of the late compassionate son of Iyale while in Zaria in Kaduna State was both a source that served as natural confidence builder and a natural repellant of self-hatred for the late benefactor and his adherents alike. According to his friends, he usually said that "focusing on what we are giving rather than on what we are receiving, we create a more outward orientation toward the world, which shifts our focus away from ourselves."

The statements above were the foundations of some of the truthful and most noticeable principles of our late icon; Chief Jacob Okpanachi who was known to be an unmatched cheerful giver throughout his lifetime until death came calling.

Acts of generosity such as giving of ones time, talent or resources, and expecting nothing in return, have been proven to be good for our health he usually maintained while alive. This was exactly what Chief Jacob Okpanachi did throughout his lifetime as a Senior Civil servant and as a Businessman.

The above has gone to show that generous individuals are personally more fulfilled, happier and more peaceful within themselves, not to mention more productive at home and in the workplace. Chief Jacob Okpanachi was most loved by all and sundry in his workplace at Zaria, at his new residence in Kwali which he never lived for long. He was more loved  in Iyale including Kogi state at large.

Chief Jacob Okpanachi believed that generosity is the act of being kind, selfless, and giving to others. Despite being an act that is done to benefit others' well-being, generosity also paradoxically increases our well-being he usually said.

In my personal research as a writer, I have also discovered that "being generous is a fantastic way to improve your mental health and well-being."

Many have witnessed all these attributes of generosity in the life of late Chief Jacob Okpanachi.

Chief Jacob Okpanachi was one of the undeniable and influential fathers of generosity ever known.

The brief biography of Chief Jacob Okpanachi

He was born in 1948 in Iyale. He went to an elementary school and obtained his stantard seven (7) Certificate. He later got his WAEC in the early 70s and later proceeded to Kaduna where he worked with the United textiles in kakuri Kaduna state in 1973. Due to the borderless sense of love for humanity in him, he decided to proceed to Zaria in 1976 to work as a Laboratory Attendant in Ahmodu Bello University Teaching Hospital. He  enrolled into the University Teaching Hospital's courses and majored in Laboratory studies.  He rose to the position of a Chief Medical lab Technician in laboratory department of ABU teaching hospital until retirement in 2004.

He has at various times occupied the following positions due to his personal acts of generosity,

(1) Chief of Igala community in Zaria.

2) The Chairman of Junior Staff Association as an arm of NASU 1994.

3)The Chairman association of Medical Lab Technician, ABU teaching Zaria in 1998.

This article is to mark his fourteenth (14) year Anniversary after his transition to the great beyond.

I was contacted by my friend, Hon. Justice Okpanachi who is one of the sons of the late distinguished icon, Chief Jacob Okpanachi to do this work to mark his father's 14th year Remembrance after his death.
