THE WORLD'S LARGEST FAMILY

This man living in Baktwang village, Mizoram, has the biggest family living happily under one roof. The family has more than 100 rooms in a four-storey building, where the wives sleep in giant communal dormitories.

Ziona Chana, born on July 21, 1945, holds a world record as the head of the ‘world’s largest existing family’ with 39 wives, 94 children, 14 daughters-in-law and 33 grandchildren, 180 in total and counting.

Daily their life begins at 5:50 am when all members assemble for prayers and daily duties are assigned. Prayers and meals are held in a large hall. Dinner is served from 4 to 6 pm, according to age, and the day comes to a close by 9 pm when the lights are switched off.

Ziona was featured in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! top 11 strangest stories for the year 2011 and in 2013’s Ripley Believe It or Not!.
