World Health Day 2024: My Health, My Right
To commemorate this significant day, individuals from all corners of the globe unite to advocate for a healthier world and acknowledge the achievements of the World Health Organization (WHO) in promoting health equity and accessibility for diverse populations worldwide.
In Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, the celebrations for World Health Day began with a spirited 'RoadWalk' initiated from the premises of the Kogi State Ministry of Health at 8:14 am. The procession, led by health professionals from the State Ministry of Health, Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, UNICEF, and WHO, was marked by participants donning T-shirts adorned with the slogans "My Health, My Right" and "World Health Day" on the front and back, respectively. The energizing march concluded around 9:43 am, setting the tone for a day filled with impactful activities.
A significant highlight of the day's events was a press conference attended by distinguished guests, including Dr. Adams Abdulaziz, the Honourable Commissioner for the Kogi State Ministry of Health, Dr. Segun Barnabas, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the SMOH, and Dr. Gwomson Dauda, the Public Health Officer representing WHO, among others. Also present were representatives from UNICEF and the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.

During the press conference, Dr. Adams Abdulaziz outlined the various health intervention projects implemented by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's administration, particularly emphasizing the revitalization of primary healthcare services in Kogi State. He highlighted ongoing efforts to assess and refurbish primary health facilities across the 21 LGAs, with plans to revamp 63 facilities to meet basic health needs. Dr. Abdulaziz expressed gratitude to WHO for their unwavering technical support and assistance in advancing the state's healthcare agenda.
