THE OUTCOMES OF THE IYLA MEETING HELD ON THE 17TH APRIL, 2021 AT SAFARI HOTELS LOKOJA.

THE OUTCOMES OF THE IYLA MEETING HELD ON THE 17TH APRIL, 2021 AT SAFARI HOTELS LOKOJA.

The meeting kicked off at 1600hrs and was attended by our speaker; Rt. Hon. Ojoachele Akor felix, The Director of Media & Publicity, Odaudu Wada Isah and three [3] Coordinators from; Dekina, Comrade Justin Daikwo, Ankpa; Comrade Monday Audu Mameh, Ibaji; Luke Udeh.

The Speaker of the Assembly during the welcome address thanked the aforementioned coordinators especially for Monday Audu Mameh and Udeh Luke whom according to their resilient spirit of sacrifice, dedication and elated-ness came all the way from Ankpa and Ibaji to graced the auspicious meeting organised so as to reach some major, general and far reaching decisions on IYLA's activities beyond 2023. He averred further on the past various challenges which have negatively affected the assembly in 2018 while touring the Nine [9] Local Government Areas of the eastern flank which was mainly organised to showcase IYLA as the best brand Igala sociocultural group with the intention to harmonised the youths of Igala extraction all over the world in order to attract enduring changes, growth and development to our motherland. The above goals and numerous others were however met with stiff resistance from certain quarters as some of the high ranking members of the assembly were  misled by others who didn't see anything good in our activities and service to the  people. They would rather threatened to withdraw leadership of the Assembly under watch of the aforementioned Speaker, who at that point was making personal sacrifice to ensure total turn around within the leadership of the assembly and the entire youth constituencies. We survived the plot that sought to overthrow the leadership of the assembly at the peak of a major assignment to identify with our traditional rulers in their various domains. It was during one of such official duties that we received a phone call to this effect while we were with the ETEMAHI during our tour in Ajaka, Igalamela/Odolu LGA. The Speaker and other committed members refused to dance to the tune of the music snd continue the tour to other LGAs. The Speaker also said that He cannot not continue to be a youth forever and maybe by now he is supposed to be a supervisor to other youths but doing so would make somethings to remain futile. Many things would go down the drain. He thereafter thanked all those who made out time in order to attend the meeting. In his capacity as the Honourable Speaker of the Assembly, the meeting was declared opened for deliberations and resolutions to begin in ernest.

RESOLUTIONS:

1. Membership Levy: A monthly levy of Hundred naira N100.00 as against one thousand naira is to be paid by the members into the IYLA coffers.

ABENEMI’S CARETAKER COMMITTEE OF KOGI SDP: A FARCE?

ABENEMI’S CARETAKER COMMITTEE OF KOGI SDP: A FARCE? The situation regarding the caretaker committee established by the SDP in Kogi state is beginning to shift, as the presiding judge has decided to return the case to the Chief Judge (CJ) for reassignment to a substantive judge once the judicial vacation ends. This decision is significant because, upon reassignment, the new judge will set a fresh date for the hearing, which, according to reports, may be sometime in October or November. Until then, all parties must maintain the status quo, meaning, Hon. Moses Peter will continue as the chairman, and the caretaker committee's actions will be rendered ineffective, making all their decisions null and void. In terms of the upcoming elections, this implies that: - The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) will be legally bound to recognize Moses Peter as the party chairman and work with him on all electoral matters. - Candidates not presented to KOSIEC through the office ...
