~BUILDER SAMSON AMEH OPALUWA EMERGED THE CHAIRMAN OF CORBON

 

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Bldr. Samson Ameh OPALUWAH as the Chairman of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON)
The appointment took effect following his inauguration in Abuja, as presided over by the Honorable Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.

Opaluwah was until his appointment, the Chairman Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Institute of Facilities Engineering & Management, a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

He is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Khariz Group, Abuja, a group of companies involved in Projects implementation Consultancy, Building/Civil Engineering Construction, Entrepreneurship Development, Property & Facilities Management and Agribusiness.

He has also served in the capacity of the Director of Public Procurement in the Federal Ministry of Works, Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Police Affairs prior to his retirement from the Federal Civil Service on 1st October, 2014.

Prior to his retirement, he was Deputy Director, Sports Facilities & Stadia Development in the National Sports Commission and the pioneer Director of Maintenance at the National Hospital, the Presidency, Abuja.

He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, where he bagged a First Class Honors in Engineering in 1978, followed by Leeds University, UK, where he was awarded a Master of Science Degree (MSc Engineering) in 1983.

He contributed immensely to the enthronement of an efficient management culture in Nigeria especially in the Federal Capital City, and has published two books on the practice of Facility Management in Nigeria for which he was awarded a Doctorate Degree by St Clements University, Turks & Caicos Island.

He is also the Charter President of the Abuja chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and currently the Chairman Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Institute of Facilities Engineering & Management – a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). He was at one time a visiting Lecturer of Postgraduate students in Facility Management at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.

He has over forty years postgraduate and cognate experience in Facilities Management, Maintenance Management, Projects Management and Public Procurement.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Building, fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers; Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Highways & Transportation Engineers; Fellow, Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators; Fellow, Nigerian Institution of Facilities Engineering & Management; Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Administrative Management of Nigeria; Fellow, Occupational Safety & Health Association (UK); Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants and Fellow, Nigerian Association of Technological Engineers.

His current professional focus is developing home-grown solutions to the Housing deficit in Nigeria, Strategic Facilities Management of Infrastructure Projects, Public Procurement capacity building and the Upskilling of Artisans in the Nigerian Construction Industry.
