THE KOGI STATE HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH CALLS FOR COLLABORATION AND SYNERGY BETWEEN THE PARASTATALS AND AGENCIES UNDER THE MINISTRY FOR EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY*


The Kogi State Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Zakari Usman has held the first important meeting with heads of institutions, agencies and parastatals at the conference hall of the Ministry today being, 16th August, 2022 after his successful resumption in office.
The agenda of the meeting between the Honourable Commissioner for health and the Heads of The Prestigious health institutions, parastatals and agencies in the state is to build synergy between them and the Ministry to appreciate and to drive the vision of the Ministry of health towards repositioning the health sector and to respond appropriately to the healthcare needs of the people of kogi as well as the training of the healthcare professionals and the research units.
The vibrant, well known and result oriented Commissioner while addressing the Heads of the outlined agencies and parastatals above, stated that: "Our challenges are generic and our goal is one; which is to strengthen the health systems for the provision of effective, affordable, accessible and quality healthcare services to kogites and the residents alike". 
The Commissioner for Health also stated that the incumbent and detribalized Governor of Kogi state; H.E, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is a health friendly governor with the political-will and readiness to give all the necessary supports and cooperations to the Ministry for the improvement of the health systems in the state. The governor has done alots towards repositioning and reawakening of the health sector in the state and he will still do more, the commissioner added.

The Honourable Commissioner for health has also pledged to provide efficient and transformational leadership by leading from the front, harnessing all the collective years of experience of all the critical players in the health agencies, parastatals and institutions under the ministry of health in the state towards strengthening the health systems for effective healthcare delivery services.

This meeting organized by the Commissioner; Dr. Zakari Usman has brought into meaningful reflections for the massive appreciation of one of the giant strides of the incumbent Governor of Kogi state, as quoted from the briefings of the Chief Medical Director of PAAUTH; DR. SPO AKOGU;

"the new teaching Hospital project called the ultramodern clinical complex is a Y-shaped three winged one story building completed and awaiting commissioning for use standing aesthetically and majestically on our premises. It brings the beauty of a new bride with a nostalgic splendour of working in a true teaching hospital. It's ambience is nothing other than an optical soothing balm to the aches of a new patient. It is a footprint of his Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, a white lion that brazed his trail here within a record period of less than one (1) year which has significantly addressed one of our major infrastructural deficits.




Those in attendance are; the Permanent Secretary and the Directors of Kogi state Ministry of health; the Chief Medical Director of the Prince Abubakar Audu University Teaching Hospital, Anyigba, The Chief Medical Director of the Specialist Hospital Lokoja, The Acting Chief Medical Director Of the Kogi state Health Management Board, The Provost of the Kogi State College of Nursing Obangede, The Provost Kogi State College of Health Technology Idah, The Executive Director of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the Executive Secretary of the State Health Insurance Agency.
