The 2019 PDP's Governorship Aspirant, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris has congratulated the Muslim faithful in Kogi state and Nigeria in General over the completion of the compulsory Ramadan's fasting as the Eid ul Fitr marks the end of the holy period of Ramadan and moreso the beginning of Shawwal, the tenth Islamic month. On Eid ul Fitr (also known as Eid al-Fitr or Id ul-Fitr), Muslims thank Allah for the holy Quran as the sacred book of the Muslims which was revealed to Prophet Muhammed on Laylat al-Qadr, one of the odd-numbered nights during the last ten days of Ramadan. Hence the significance.
The quintessential businessman cum politician added that fasting (Sawm) is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, and therefore Muslims fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
The PDP'S Governorship Aspirant while reflecting on the importance of fasting stated that Eid is significant because it marks the completion of a month-long fast from dawn to dusk. And as Muslims worldwide look forward to celebrating the joyous festival of Eid. Eid Ul-Fitr is the time to get busy with shopping, decorating the house, and buying gifts for your loved ones. Eid is one of the most important festivals in Kogi state which is celebrated by Muslims with great happiness and joy.
Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris passionately urged the Muslim faithful to honour and respect the lessons learnt during the period and carry with them the valuable virtues of freedom, brotherhood, friendliness and kindness which our own noble prophet Muhammad (SAW) symbolized.
He thanked the muslims for their act of sincerity and compassion for humanity.
