Hon. Abubakar to fast-track development in Olamaboro LGA,
The Social Democratic Party's chairmanship candidate for Olamaboro LGA; Hon. Abubakar Adamu Ibrahim; has divulged and made public his steering short, medium and long term developmental masterplans for the LGA, He stated the above during the media chat with TONP.COM at Lokoja the state capital.
He considered the following strategies out of love and honour, He has for one of the most strategic local government areas in Kogi state given the border it shares with Enugu and Benue states respectively:
He averred that his development templates shall outlive his administration, if elected during the upcoming Council elections scheduled for October 19, 2024.
He stated his goals as follows;
Short-term (0-1 year)
1. Infrastructure Development:
- Improve electricity supply by transferring
Olamaboro to the Ajaokuta Power Line from Aloma.
- Begin the construction of major access roads in the 10 wards.
- Commence the rehabilitation of Uko water project and other existing water projects to ensure adequate supply of drinking water in Okpo and it's environs
2. Governance and Institutional Strengthening:
- Strengthen local government institutions.
- Enhance transparency and accountability.
- Implement e-governance systems.
Medium-term (2-3 years)
1. Economic Empowerment:
- Improve and strengthen Agriculture (provision of improved seeds, fertilizer subsidy, farmers training, land harmonization, mechanized farming).
- Youth empowerment (secure Federal and State employment for graduates, industrial skill training within and outside Nigeria, mining and trades, entrepreneurship support)
- Support small-scale enterprises (crafts, food processing, trade).
- Attract a commercial bank to Olamaboro/establish Olamaboro Development Bank
- Strengthen security
2. Infrastructure Development:
- Distribute electricity to all villages
- Construct/renovate/upgrade markets in the 3 districts and 10 wards
- Complete the construction of all major access roads within the local government
- Rehabilitate/Construct boreholes in all towns and villages
3. Education and Healthcare:
- Renovate/construct schools and healthcare facilities.
- Train Teachers and healthcare Workers.
- Implement vocational training programs in School curriculums.
- Implement health insurance schemes
- Scholarship programs for outstanding Pupils/Students
Long-term (4+ years)
1. Strategic Urban Development:
- Develop and begin the implementation of Olamaboro master plan.
- Beautification of the Local Government Headquarters
2. Economic Diversification:
- Develop non-agricultural sectors (mining, ICT, sports, vocation).
- Attract local and foreign investments.
- Establish export-oriented agro-industries.
