The Kaugama local government council in Jigawa state has purchased 24 new Android mobile phones to facilitate the online registration of indigents of the local government to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC)
Reports from the local government area indicated that the council also recruited 24 ad-hoc staff to conduct the online registration of PVC in the area.
The council chairman Alhaji Iidris Mati Hadi who made the disclosure to news men said it is because of the importance the council attaches to the exercise and to support the ease in obtaining the PVC by the people in the area.
Alhaji Hadi explained that “The council found it imperative to procure the mobile phones for online registration of eligible persons in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obtain their PVC`s with ease”.
He said it was unfortunate that many persons in the locality do not have the awareness to register online to secure their voter’s cards.
The local council’s boss maintained that the council and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have jointly trained the adhoc staff who were deployed to the eleven political wards to conduct the registration exercise.
Hadi added that arrangement has been made by the council to transport the eligible persons captured during the online registration to INEC Office in Kaugama for thumb-printing
